A Habitable World Free of Plastic Waste.
Long description
House Out of Waste is a Kenyan start-up that seeks to convert end-of-life plastic waste into a durable, versatile, and low cost housing solution. We aim to achieve this objective by collection and processing of plastic waste by way of extrusion into interlocking building blocks,as well as supportive material such as cabro, pergollas, and fencing posts.
With Nairobi’s population, (predominantly youth) and one that lives 60%(according to some estimates) in slum areas, and a projection of a rise in poverty occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic, there is a need for a low cost housing alternative.
House Out of Waste seeks to provide 1,000 housing units made primarily out of the plastic waste by 2023.
