archiTOY

This project aims to raise awareness among parents and children. archiTOY is produced with recycled material in 3D printing.

Long description

This project explores the concept of applying 3D printing to plastic waste, as a way to re-design.  archiTOY aims to have an educational impact on the users. The toy uses waste as a resource. All the parts are made with household plastic waste and 3D printing. The children and families will be part of the future products with their contribution of the plastic waste so they are encouraged to recycle. The user gets knowledge on how their plastic waste will be transformed and 3D printing benefits (no waste on production and customizable products) on the project web pages and the exhibitions.

This project is developed through a morphological research process analyzing the various layers of the city (Rome). The parts of this toy are the items that provide information about the city. ArchiTOY, which is composed of architectural elements such as columns, pediments, and arches belonging to the ancient period, also suggests postmodern units. All the elements of this toy are open to renewal. The aim to inform different historical periods, architectural styles, cities within the game thus increase creativity and knowledge.

The transformation of the visual memory of the city into an educational toy with the principle of recycling is open to process in different geographies.
