Atelier Riforma is an innovative startup with a social vocation with the aim of facilitating the transition of the textile sector towards a completely circular model. In view of 2025 (when the separate collection of textile waste and their sustainable management will be mandatory in all member countries of the European Union), we aim to make the collection of used clothing digitized and transparent, with the aim of channeling as many garments as possible towards sustainable applications. To this end, we are developing a technology that exploits Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of automating the selection and cataloging of discarded clothing. The data and images of the garments cataloged through this technology will flow into an e-commerce platform where any reality in the fashion world is looking for used garments as raw material to create sustainable products (for example designers who do tailoring refashioning, companies that deal with mechanical recycling of textile fibers, second-hand shops, etc.) will be able to buy what they need. To date, according to our research, no one has ever exploited artificial intelligence with the aim of enhancing used clothes and making their supply chain more efficient. This is a revolutionary perspective, which does not aim at correcting the errors of the current linear system, but precisely at undermining it at the root.
