Greener Cities and Buildings.

Long description

In today’s world, climate change is one of our biggest problems and fear for present and future generations. We keep innovating different ways on how to reduce plastic, textile, chemical, industrial waste, building waste, etc. but we have such a vast population and growing rate that is almost impossible to eradicate this situation we are in. However, there could be a solution in the nearby future and that is a better development of cities and building design to accommodate better a population that at the same time it can help heal the environment. The biggest problems with building new cities and building to accommodate for a bigger population is the sprawls in cities, cities tend to be separated by lower, middle, and upper class. This leads to having to mobilize more on automobiles and consequently produce more greenhouse gasses. What if instead of segregating cities and separating different communities we mix them. We satisfy new housing demands and we make the existing neighborhoods all around it more complex, more interesting, more walkable. People like human interaction, a community where local shops, shopping malls, neighborhoods, and shopping markets are all within walking distance while keeping that interaction with neighbors at all time. It might not sounds what people expect but is what people desire. Affordable housing, with a better community, and more importantly reducing our ecological footprint. Moreover, what if at the same time we think about better communities.
