Inventor Martin next to a monitoring well

A pipe or drain made of bioplastic with an embedded breakdown trigger to be combined with an activator.

Long description

We have noticed that a lot of monitoring wells are installed all around the world. Those monitoring wells are made of regular plastic, like PVC. Those wells -pipes- are used for environmental research to investigate soil and groundwater quality. After using, those plastic pipes are not being removed and left in the ground. This can cause problems in the future. We were wondering how to cope with this problem. We came with the idea to make those pipes of bioplastic, like PLA and an embedded breakdown trigger! We want a method in which we decide when those pipes are breaking down, after when they are no longer needed. So we came with this method. The activated substance, also a common natural substance of cause, is being put in dry bentonite clay granulate. This clay is used to fill the space in the borehole. When it comes in contact with water, it expands by a factor 2-3x. By adding the activator to this clay and filling the pipe with this clay with activator, the breakdown trigger in the PLA plastic is being activated, so after a while only natural substances are left in the ground!!. Another application will be the same technology, but the purpose will be a drainage pipe for temporarily use.
