Forests and surroundings can be cleaned of wasted bottle glass and the latter can be used as material for designers with a positive effect.
Long description
Broken glass in the streets and in nearby forests often causes injuries of my dogs’ paws. But the stick that broke the camel’s back was when I once saw a boy who found some glass bottles and was running around the streets and crushing them and almost hurt the passers-by. I have a ceramic workshop and looking at bottle glass I thought: “What if I use it for glass fusing activities”? The following features make me think this project may be effective:
- Easy to find: in Russia you can still find a lot of free wasted bottles and other broken glass in the forests and everywhere in cities, towns and villiges or you can also use the bottles from products you and your community members don’t know how to recycle.
- Help clean the environment: broken glass is dangerous for animals and children when it is left in the forests, near lakes, in the streets and playgrounds, etc. To REDUCE this danger we can REMOVE this glass from our surroundings and motivate people to stop polluting in the future.
- Raise general interest: the recycled glass artworks can be exhibited in big cities to attract the attention of bigger audience to the problem. It will motivate people to RECYCLE.
- Easy to spread: a youtube channel, instagram and other social networks is a good way to communicate the idea of REPURPOSING, RETHINKING and RECYCLING bottle glass via master class and tips videos and posts.
- Effective: this may contribute to our environment RECOVERY.
