Keep the sky clean

Give a use to plant waste to avoid its incineration.

Long description

Cielito limpio is a project that seeks to use the plant remains that farmers consider as garbage, to avoid all the contamination that arises from their incineration. The vegetable remains, better known as straw, are a mixture of herbs and dry plants that grow in the fields, and that do not have an economic value for farmers. As a result, farmers have massively implemented the incineration of plant debris as a way of cleaning farm fields. This activity is not only harmful to the environment, but also to the health of the inhabitants. During incineration, greenhouse gases and other polluting particles are created, such as dioxins, which cause a variety of diseases in the population. Not forgetting that there is the possibility of losing control of the fire, which can burn forests and jungles, as well as houses. Unfortunately, the lack of financial support for small farmers has forced them to choose incineration as the method to clean their fields. In this project we propose a way to give value to plant waste, so that its collection is encouraged. Straw was used for thousands of years as a raw material for the construction of houses, however, it fell into disuse due to the implementation of rock-based materials. In Cielito limpio we have we have taken up this material to design prefabricated ecological walls.
