We enjoy various brands of coffee from all over the world and domestically produced fresh eggs every day. But we do pay little attention to wastes generated by our drinking and eating habits. In fact, a huge amount of waste has been incinerated and disposed through landfills behind the scene (approximately 2.7 times the volume of Tokyo Dome even only in Japan).

The organic fertilizer ‘+Coffee’ made from a mixture of coffee wastes (used coffee grounds and unsalable beans) and chicken droppings has three possibilities.

“Reduce”

We can reduce the amount of wastes that are incinerated and disposed through landfill every day. We can reduce the usage amount of fossil-based chemical fertilizers.

“Experience”

We can experience upcycling of waste generated by drinking coffee and eating eggs. For instance, school children collect coffee waste from home at school and send it to a factory to make organic fertilizer. They can grow organic vegetables with organic fertilizer. In this way, they can experience healthy “upcycling”.

”Potentiality”

Most of the coffee beans are produced for export in developing countries. A healthy sustainable development cycle can be materialized by sending back the organic fertilizer made of the coffee waste generated in importing countries to the coffee-producing countries. They can grow organic coffee with organic fertilizer and continue this cycle.
