A non-profit organisation that exchanges plastic waste for quality housing and training in skilled labour.
Long description
Third world countries are faced with the issue of dumping of waste. Most waste is dumped in landfills which are located close to informal settlements. In addition to this, there is waste too in the streets. These streets too are homes to street families. So they face a common problem of inadequate housing and poor waste management. A great portion of the waste is plastic. So, our value proposition is: get us X amount of plastic and we will build you a quality plastic home with plastic furniture and solar power. For people living in the streets, they bring in three sacks of plastic in exchange for a tent, a change of clothes, a puff jacket, blanket and bag, all made from nylon (from recycled plastic). This means that by trying to solve their problem of housing, they too do solve the problem of plastic waste. Housing blocks can be set up and common amenities such as toilets, electricity and water be piped or stored en masse. We will have a program for homeless people where they participate in waste collection and recycling in our plant in exchange for food, accommodation and training in an unrelated skill, after which they can provide for themselves. We are a non-profit organization. Initial funding will go into purchasing and running plant and machinery. We will then recycle collected plastic to produce plastic furniture and implements for sale. This will create a self sustaining corporate ecosystem.
