Elaboración de suelo fértil a partir del proceso de compostaje para la producción de alimento en la Ciudad de México.

Long description

The “Community Compost” program began in 2018, as neighbors from Nonoalco Tlatelolco Housing Unit and surrounding residents regularly brought their organic waste to the garden. The program was created with the purpose of producing fertile soil through the elaboration of compost and vermicompost, one of the necessary inputs for food production in Huerto Tlatelolco. From the transformation of organic waste we contribute with the closure of the nutrient cycle, since these are incorporated into the soil contributing to the development of healthy and nutritious food.

We are promoting and encouraging citizens to properly separate their waste through the “interchangeable points”. The activity consists of exchanging a certain amount of organic waste for inputs that the garden produces such as crops, seeds, plants, prepared soil, compost or vermicompost.
