In the "NWC" competition, we transformed an abandoned steel factory in Hefei, Anhui Province, China with waste, and proposed innovation.

Long description

Due to the backwardness of industrial technology, the former “No. 1 steelmaking plant in Anhui Province”-Hegang Company has gradually faded out of the crowd’s vision. Adhering to the principle of rejecting waste, we first repositioned the overall function of the project and turned it into a civic activity center and a youth community complex. Secondly, we have introduced an assemblable and detachable “unit body” building based on the theory of “metabolism” in Japan, which can be assembled, disassembled and reassembled at will according to the needs of personnel activities and behaviors to meet the application in different scenarios, thereby reducing the re-emergence of waste strives for a continuous cycle of life cycle. Finally, in the use of building materials, we make full use of waste plastics and make them into recycled bricks to reduce pollution and emissions in the production process, so that they can serve the lives of citizens in a more artistic and usable form.

In addition, this program can also continue to be promoted and applied to more “abandoned” abandoned factories, schools, houses, etc., to reduce waste generation and realize a fair circular economy shared by everyone.
