Educational and awareness platform that encourages and facilitates the reuse of waste to give it a new life through design.

Long description

D-Waste is a platform that works with recycling, processing and reuse of waste to give it a new life through design. Creativity and education join forces to raise awareness about  a problem and provide a solution through innovation based on a circular economy.

Directed by Patricia Muñiz, professor of architecture, industrial management of fashion and industrial design aims to bring together teachers and students around the world, through a global educational network that presents us ways of working with waste through our designs.

On a first level, thinking of education as the gateway to the future; workshops, courses, expositions and any other academic format are going to be used to sensitize students at the different phases in  the educational process. The target is to raise awareness among the general population about the waste we produce with our actions, and what better way to do it than starting  with the future of design, those who will decide the material to use in their creations, their durability, the obsolescence, and the possibilities to reuse and recycle the objects of our life? The actions will be implemented from a younger age, because the future is in our children’s hands.

In a second phase, different designing workflows are going to be generated in which the waste reuse is going to be the starting point of the designs. All of this, always, from the social sustainability of the people working on the different phases of the process.
