Futuristic chandelier made out of recovered e-waste.
Long description
This lighting piece questions overconsumption provoked by technological innovation. New gadgets are released on the market every day, making the previous versions obsolete. This generates excessive amounts of electrical waste (e-waste) that end up primarily in Asian countries for recycling and recovering metals. Unfortunately, those processes are performed in very unhealthy circumstances, releasing toxins to the atmosphere. Moreover, vast amounts of plastic must be sent to the landfill.
E-waste Chandelier brings an invitation to re-think electronics consumption. And, at the same time, it uses the translucency of electronic boards and complex circuits to create a lamp with a varied shadow and illuminance. The glossy metal parts, the micro-batteries, the small devices, and the mini bulbs altogether project a futuristic surrounding halo.
We are producing so much e-waste that this product is produced at almost non-material cost; 90% is of this piece is recovery e-waste material. It is a call for responsible consumption.
