Long description
According to the World Bank overall poverty level increased from 55% to 72% of the population in 2020 due to the economic contraction, with a decrease in GDP by 5%. As of early November 2020, 11.2 million people, or approximately 36% of the estimated population, faced either a crisis or emergency state of food insecurity. Kabul, the country’s capital is home to approximately 6 million people and here it is much obvious how there is a social gap between various communities exist. Currently, the poverty line is defined as an income of 70 Afghanis a day, which is equivalent to about 1 U.S. dollar, and underprivileged people fulfill their food needs from restaurants’ food wastes mixed with garbage in open spaces or buy it from unhealthy street foods with over 3 USD. For a normal person, this is way beyond consumption and unhealthy. We aim to collect, filter, organize, and sell these foods as street food back to these communities in a healthy way with a price tag of 0.40 USD. We are going to use specific locations for our food collection and distribution, where we are accessible to poor communities. This will be facilitated with portable booths for distribution and foods are going to be sourced through mobile Apps from households to contribute and collect from restaurants. This is an opportunity to create jobs, feed poor communities, and minimize food insecurity.
