Comprehensive service that aims to repurpose plastic waste to reduce visual disability through the fabrication of frames for eyeglasses.
Long description
This project aims to recover our environment and improve the quality of life for people living in poverty.
Both goals are accomplished through a comprehensive system consisting of a service and a product. This system reduces the existing plastic waste in order to clean our environment and at the same time repurpose the waste to create a functional object for people with visual impairment (nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism). Moreover, this project intends to be self-sustainable and create jobs in local communities from Mexico.
The frames are fabricated with recovered waste from plastic containers made of HDPE. Making them resistant and accessible since it is a type of polymer that we can easily find in our daily lives.
For this social project to work, there are three main actors involved: the community, the partner, and us. The selected community, who will be in charge of collecting and gathering the plastic waste that later on will be used for the frames. The partner, who will provide the medical service, and us, who will transform the waste to fabricate the frames.
All working in synergy* to create a positive impact in the community and our planet.
*Synergy: The combined power of a group of things when they are working together that is greater than the power achieved by each working separately.
