We are turning potato peel waste into value-added food ingredients participating in the circular economy reducing the waste stream.

‘Turning potato peels from waste to a solution ’is SavFood’s current project where we are exploring production methods to transform the peels into functional food ingredients. Prumbs, the first of three ingredients, from potato peels is gluten-free, fibre-rich is coating alternative to breadcrumbs as part of the circular economy. We are working on a fiber additive as well as an antioxidant protective coating from potato peels as our second and third ingredients from potato peels. We have conducted a pilot project to further analyze the potato peels waste stream generated during the processing of potatoes. We have tested the first product with small food companies and are in talks with larger companies to conduct a pilot project testing our product.
