First we stop generating plastic waste. Then we remove plastic from the environment. Now we want to close the circular chain.
Long description
Seven years ago, we began to realize our responsibility for the conscious consumption of plastics, and we eliminated the use of disposable cups in our operations. A small contribution, but that originated a larger initiative. In partnership with two strategic customers, we developed a lamp, which used post-consumer packaging and broken hangers as raw material. We want to go further, using the redesign of our products and production processes, to optimize the use of resources and minimize the disposal of plastic in nature. We are transforming our product portfolio with the goal of 25% of new products using recycled plastic as the main raw material. Nowadays, this recycled plastic originates from a resin specially developed for this purpose, in partnership with a company that has a strong presence with waste pickers cooperatives, ensuring traceability of materials and safe working conditions. Our goal is to increase the number of products using this resin, through the development in tooling of our best sellers products and typologies, with the objective of intercepting and preventing the largest possible amount of plastic from having the wrong destination. In addition, we want to close the cycle in our products. Most of our customers are retailers, who have a recurring cycle of renewing their stores. We need to implement a logistical process that ensures that at this time of renovation, the fixtures return for reprocessing, as well as other potential materials that would be discarded.
