A zero waste guide for families.

Long description

“Gaia sem lixo” (Mother Earth without trash) is a consulting project offering, during a full year, support to 5 families of Rio de Janeiro who’s kids are between 7 and 14 years old. 5 families showing interest in reducing their waste inside and outside their home. Through meetings, visits, recipes and tips, “Gaia sem lixo” will become a guide on the path to a more sustainable home. The project aims to make these families aware of the planet’s issues, by changing their way of consuming and turning them able to face the emergency of the situation. “Gaia sem lixo” wants to raise a special awareness around the waste produced, the risks of pollution in our lifestyle and the challenges of influencing today’s law and decision makers. We will offer face-to-face meetings and introduce the Brazilian context of wastes. We will create a special training to reduce the families’ own regular wastes, and plan to analise with them the waste produced in each room of the house. The main goal is to develop concrete actions such as visits to local sustainable companies. We also aim to take the families for a beach clean up. As we shall work with many local partners, we will gather contents to develop an application for the use of families. This app will offer many tips such as places to buy zero waste products and contents to understand the issues of environmental education, with a step by step guide to start and follow daily ecological practices.
