Tunza app is a social venture that allows juice vendors, oil and milk retailers in low middle-income neighborhoods to order, request pick up and cleaning of glass packaging materials. We are redesigning packaging materials and making them better by using glass that is safe, reusable, and good for the environment.

Pipeline is an example of a low-income area in Nairobi and consumers here can’t afford the alternatives on the supermarket shelves and opt for cheaper alternatives from oil and milk “ATMs”.Although Kenya banned single plastic use with no strict regulations, local oil and milk retailers package the sell these products in single plastic use polythene bags and plastic bottles. The streets of these neighborhoods are plagued with polythene bags, plastic packaging materials, and bottles which often block drainage and sewage systems leading to diseases such as cholera and diarrhea.

Tunza app will make it easy, simple, and fast for retailers to order new glass packaging bottles and to request pick up for the ones which have been returned by consumers, we then clean the returned bottles and return them to the retailer or distribute them to other retailers creating a circular economy. We are guaranteed to reduce the production and usage of single-use plastic packaging materials in areas such as Pipeline which makes up two-thirds of Nairobi this will reduce waste and greenhouse emissions.
