Household Waste Management would be smartly handled if sorted correctly.
Long description
Every house in the mid-level, average and above in Nairobi-Kenya has a dust bin in it.This dustbin goes each and everything that we do not want in the house.This means the house contributes a lot of waste globally.Then if this waste is handled in a smart way then it will be possible to recycle, reuse and re-manufacture.There are 3 category bins to be sorted right from the house.
Recycle Bin
- Tins, cans,and aerosol s should be collected and taken back to manufacturer for recycling.
- Glass bottles and jars should be taken back to supplier for recycling or designers for vases and chandeliers making.
- Milk/juice cartons and soft card boards if well sorted then it can be reprocessed
- Rigid plastic cans of water, juice,salad oils should be returned back for refill.
Organic Bin This bin goes the lawn clippings,prunings,flowers and leaves,paper towel and tissues, food scraps and peels all should be used for bio-gas manufacturing and compost manure.
Waste Bin
- Fruit seeds should be sorted in a bag dried and thrown onto fields to germinate or decompose.
- Soft plastics from sugar, salts, spaghetti e.t.c should be collected together for recycling.
- Ropes/hoses should be used to make ornaments, neck pieces,balcony chairs,mats
- Old clothes and rags can be repurposed and taken to children homes,donations in refugee camps
- Broken crockery and glassware should be used to make unique artifacts, souvenirs, frames,key holders,ornaments etc
- egg- shells and bones are great raw materials for buttons, jewelry , ornaments
