Original fashion accessories through the reutilization of discarded materials.

Long description

This project aims to create and produce original fashion accessories through the reutilization of discarded plastics, foil leftovers and papers scraps from other works carried out by printshops.

For the final finish and added durability of the pieces, epoxy resin is used in minimal quantities, as a surface layer. The intention is to have the opportunity to research and learn about new materials so that the resin can be replaced by another ecologically viable input or achieve a perfect finish, so that it can be eliminated from the process. But even with the resin applied, it is possible to remove it so that the plastic can be recycled again, allowing the circular economy to be present.

Today the process has simple equipment and handcrafted use. The intention is to develop specific machinery (such as ovens and injection molding machines) that are staggered in production. The Dutch Precious Plastic project will be the starting point and the basis for these adaptations. The goal is to develop a process that allows future access to other professionals who wish to be trained to produce similar pieces, within a language developed by the brand’s designers and enabling the expansion of franchises.

Another important point to be developed in the project is the social bias, allowing waste pickers to be inserted at the base of the entire production process (with the capture of new inputs) and compensated in a fair and transparent manner.
