Among the various contributors to pollution, agriculture for mass consumption has the largest impact on environment. Research underlines the influence of overconsumption in the abuse of natural resources. So how can we reduce the negative environmental impact of agriculture? Conscious consumption poses a user-centric solution area. Waste-handling is an important aspect of taking the responsibility of our consumption practices.

Coffee is known to be the most traceable cash crop, even superseding petroleum. A vast amount of waste is generated during the production and consumption of coffee. Raising awareness about waste-handling is an important step for conscious consumption.

Jugi is a smart and user-centric solution to provide consistent and contaminant-free raw material for start-ups utilizing coffee waste, which they are currently lacking. By using the smart container, coffee consumers collect coffee waste. The container’s fill level is communicated to the Jugi Team and the waste is collected from the consumer. After processing, the ground is provided to the start-ups as raw material.

In other words, Jugi offers dispensers for coffee ground collection and processes these grounds, preparing them for start-ups. Alternatives are provided for 3 different scales of consumption. Also, partners with local cafes for logistics, in return for marketing advantages. The system encourages individual coffee consumers to take responsibility for their waste
