The provision of suitable waste management systems has been a challenge to a majority of urban authorities in developing nations, while garbage collection operations are either ineffective or do not occur at all (Laor, 2018). Studies have been done to determine problems concerning waste management with several of them identifying problems such as lack of effective waste collection systems (Karak, 2012). Although a large percentage of people are aware of environmental and health impacts associated with improper solid waste disposal methods, most of them, possess a negative attitude towards ensuring conducive environmental conditions, instead, they continue to engage in practices of poor waste management (Licy, 2013). Matisi area in the western part of Kenya has been experiencing high rates of communicable diseases, associated with a high and increased number of solid waste heaps all over the slum, these heaps composed of organic wastes which host many infectious vectors, the waste also serves as inhabitant place to rest and hide for this vectors which transmit these wastes. According to (Karak, 2012) although a large percentage of people in the Matisi area are aware of environmental and health impacts associated with improper solid waste disposal methods, most of them, possess a negative attitude towards ensuring conducive environmental conditions instead they continue to engage in practices of poor waste management. Therefore, this study is aimed to assess knowledge, attitude, and practices about solid waste management of Matisi residents, Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya. therefore there is a need.
