LMNOP: besides how fun it is to say... it feels great knowing that Leaves Make NO Plastic.
Long description
Too much blame is put on consumers, regarding the plastic waste problem plaguing our earth. Leaders and policy makers, entangled in bureaucracy, fueled by capitalism should be held accountable to change manufacturing standardization requirements. So long as it remains profit > planet and people we will continue to spiral downwards to a detrimental end.
They say that prevention is the best medicine, so to heal our earth we must prevent these types of materials from entering the design process in the first place. Generally, people want economical and convenient products, but the planet, the environment and our eco-system require a much more sophisticated set of criteria.
LMNOP is a concept of a material made from fallen leaves, working with what nature gives us each year. Gathering what has fallen, creating ethical, sustainable compostable, biodegradable (perhaps used as fertilizer to plant even more trees), contributes to a full circular design that comes from nature and returns to nature. Humans have evolved, and progressed in design, but we also have regressed and let down our precious environment. Product evolution and circular lifespan is our responsibility as designers and is of the utmost importance. The LMNOP project advocates sustainability in the sense that the materials used to make the objects, are raw materials, gathered and manipulated through design, without disrupting nature, only disrupting unsustainable design.
