Kerosene lanterns to Solar Lamps project.

Long description

The project involved the development of simple solar lamps called MwangaBora. The lamps assembled with simple tools, with people with no technical backgrounds. The outer frame is made from re-used old kerosene lanterns making. The project hence eliminates the need to use plastic in making the popular solar lamps. It also helps reduce land fills by extending the life span of the metallic kerosene lanterns into new clean energy lamps.  The rugged design, and simplicity to make – means the MwangaBora V3 can adapt to harsh conditions in rural communities. If broken down, they can easily be repaired within the community. The small solar panels are mostly from broken pieces from large solar panel manufactures/distributors.
