Neembo is about sharing water in a fair and sustainable way.

Long description

Neembo started in Mombasa county, as an attempt to fight water scarcity. We found that water access is a global issue. There are regions in the world, like Mexico, where citizens have to rely on bottled water as the tap water is not suitable for drinking. In many other cities of the world, there are no public water fountains for fresh water. Some cities, like Paris have tax-funded water fountains, but many municipalities have to fund other more pressing matters like health care. The development of public drinking fountains is lagging behind the global trend of reusable bottles. Existing drinking fountains are often poorly maintained and placed in the wrong sites where they are hard to find.

Neembo is a project with the aim of sharing locally sourced water. We provide users with a platform where they can find water dispensers. For citizens, it is cheaper to fill up reusable bottles at Neembo dispensers than buying single-use bottles from convenience stores. These purchases will support water projects in countries that suffer from water scarcity. For every specific region, partnerships are established with water experts and local water providers to generate long-lasting change. Each user can track their individual impact and also see the collectively created change in the Neembo app.
