Most waste management techniques are not environmentally friendly.

Long description

Dschang is a city located in the West Region of Cameroon, with an estimated population of about 96112 a large percentage of which are students. This population has risen from to this value due to the influx of internally displaced persons from the North and the South west Regions of the country. The increasing population continues to lead to an ever increasing waste disposal problem. The main sources remain households, small enterprises, offices and institutions such as schools. This has led to poor health, water, land and air pollution and environmental deterioration. This project therefore aims at bringing in sustainable strategies for the effective management of these wastes through the recycling of perishables into organic manure and plastics into pavement tiles. This will go a long way to address at a micro level, the UN sustainable development goals 3, 6,11,13, 14 and 15 of making a world a better place by 2030. This project will bring innovative strategies for tackling waste in the city of Dschang. This will lead to improved sanitation, health and development of the city as a whole.
