WE WILL CHANGE THE CONCEPTION AND IDEALIZATION OF PACKAGING. HOW TO USE, REUSE AND ITS SOCIAL FUNCTION.

Long description

500 years ago, if I said the earth was round, I would be burned at the stake.

There will be a day when design will prevail over marketing and financial interests and all packages will bring solutions that are beneficial to the consumer and the environment, not to the sales index.

I am concerned in designing packaging and even products that, after their useful life, offer other uses that can be easily implemented. An UHT box can be used to grow spices. Cases that came with tools could accommodate other tools. But there is no effort to encourage this concept.

Why do designers create packages limited to protecting the product and do not think about other uses after the product protection cycle and its opening and pack destruction, when they become garbage?

We hear about recycling and manufacturers pride themselves on stamping the “100% recyclable” label, but ignore REUSE, a step prior to recycling raw material and higher than this on the value scale, since without energy expenditure it will reduce garbage. A package that offers suggestions for re-use may prove to be a differentiator in buying moment and brand choose and a tool for reducing waste across the planet.

Beyond packages, many products could be designed with reusable housing that could be refilled and/or made with parts that can be useful after the product life cycle.
