Pepena Movil

Pepena Movil was born from the need to promote ecological culture in the community due to the environmental crisis; the loss of natural resources and biodiversity for overproduction; and the bad habits of consumption and final disposal of waste (that end up contaminating the air, soil, water and ecosystems). Against this background we have built a mobile and itinerant educational model that approaches the communities by presenting free environmental education activities that address the importance of responsible consumption, reduction, separation and use of urban solid waste through training workshops; exhibition of solutions and eco-technologies for the transformation of waste into raw materials or products; educational tours for different groups; campaigns for the reception of special handling waste; among others.

We previously link with local people and projects that have previously worked on the subject in order to join their activities and to generate Solid Waste Committees that work on the formation of Local Solid Waste Management Plans; recycling economy; inclusive and community recycling. Our dynamic begins with this previous link, and then we mount a series of educational modules in an accessible space to the entire population (for a few days). Subsequently, we follow up the process through the Solid Waste Committee. The format we have created is comprehensive and versatile, allowing us to reach more communities in less time.
