smallholder farmer biodigester innovation to cub organic wastes in the interventions fostered by Limafrica.

Long description

This is a biogas digester designed for use by the smallholder farmers in buy-back contract farming in the interventions fostered by LimAfrica and Agrisolutions ltd Company. Biogas is a mixture of different gases (primarily carbon dioxide, methane and hydrogen sulfide) which when oxidized, releases heat as fuel for cooking or converted to electricity for lighting. Biogas is a renewable energy subsidy since its production and use cycle is continuous without generating no net carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. PIKALISHE is therefore a system facilitating the anaerobic digestion of the organic and animal wastes to produce the biogas for the smallholder farmers’ household use. This reduces pressure on wood fuel from cutting down trees, reduces disposal of organic wastes into the environment, provides organic fertilizers for farm use and also strives to reduce greenhouse gases emissions therefore leading to a climate smart agriculture along the Lake Victoria region in west Kenyan counties of intervention.
