Plastic-Free Disposable Razor

The Bamboovement is focused on offering plastic-free personal care products to inspire people to live a more eco-friendly life. Through developing new products we set out to create a complete product range that supports our plastic-free movement. Our main project is to bring the world’s first plastic-free disposable razor onto the market. 

Disposable razors create an enormous amount of waste as they can’t be recycled. They end up on landfills or are being incinerated. Adding to the growing rise of plastic pollution that we are already facing. 

After 1.5 years of research we finally have been able to find the right materials and parties to create the world’s first 100% plastic-free razor. The handle will consist of FSC-certified bamboo. For the cartridge (the head of the razor) we came up with a new formula, consisting of a biocomposite. The cartridge will be made of wooden fibre and pine tree oil, which is a waste product from the paper industry. These products are sourced in the forests of Sweden in the region of Hylte. This way we aim to solely use natural resources that don’t harm our planet and give waste products a new purpose.

With the help of ClimatePartner we will calculate the carbon that is emitted during production and transportation and will compensate it by planting trees. This way we want to offer a carbon-neutral razor, completely made of natural resources.
