Plastic Waste Management

We are working in the southern part of Bangladesh. This region of this country has more than one crore population. But the waste management in this area is very poor. Because of the poor management of waste, several diseases have been spreading among community and people are getting sick. Drainage system is also hazardous and for this, liquid waste is also unmanageable. Plastic pollution in Bangladesh’s environment continues unabated raising serious threats to human and animal health as the government is yet to move for reducing its production and safe management. Environmentalists say that plastic can exist in soil and water for a long time as it is not biodegradable and it may turn into leach ate and, through heat, get mixed with the food chain and enter human body causing diseases and, eventually, deaths. Medical waste and plastic waste should be managed in different ways. This medical and plastic waste is identified as one of the major local problem in Barisal City. It is clear that wastes are always harmful for human kind or for the environment but the hospital, clinical or medical wastes are the great harmful for the community, society and for the environment. Considering these Health Hazards and to proper manage the Medical & Hospital wastes Aid organization initiated plastic and medical waste management program in this area. In this project, collecting medical and plastic wastes, dumping them at dumping areas in a proper ways and recycling are included.
