Platos & Puestos is a system of reusable plates and utensils that negates the need of their disposable counterparts.
Long description
Mexican street food culture isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Neither is the immense amount of waste it produces. Platos & Puestos pairs street food vendors with their neighboring restaurants to create a system of reusable plates, cups, and utensils which are washed and delivered as needed daily, leaving their single use paper and plastic counterparts in the past.
At minimum, a 20 pesos plate of tacos produces waste in the form of a plastic slip cover over a reusable plate and a few napkins and can quickly become a paper or styrofoam plate, plastic fork and cup as well. The funds that would have otherwise been allocated for a quick bite would be given instead to a participating nearby restaurant—and matched by government environmental funds—in exchange for the the pick-up, washing, and delivery of reusable plates, cups, utensils, and even napkins.
