Pretty Plastic from trash to tile

Pretty Plastic transforms plastic building waste into new cladding material on a large scale.

Long description

Pretty Plastic is a cladding material that gives discarded building products a second life. Made of old window frames, downspouts, and rain gutters, Pretty Plastic shows that waste can become beautiful on a large scale. It’s made from 100% post-consumer PVC waste from the building industry that is turned into beautiful building products. From trash to tile!  We believe that for making an impact on the gigantic amounts of plastic waste that is discarded every year, you need to think big. Therefore, Pretty Plastic focusses on producing materials for the building industry. Saving plastic by making a chandelier from plastic waste is great – but saving plastic by making cladding for a building from plastic waste is better. To give an example: we are currently producing Pretty Plastic tiles for a single-family house that will be fully clad with Pretty Plastic. It’s not a huge house, but still we need 5.000 kg of waste plastic that would otherwise be send to a landfill or burned in an incinerator.  Pretty Plastic tiles itself are a circular product. Not only will they last up to 50 years, but they are also dismountable and re-usable and can eventually be recycled and turned into new Pretty Plastic tiles again. In the timeframe we set for ourselves, becoming truly circular is the next thing on our list. Once the production is fully set up and running, we will develop a return system for the tiles to make sure they are never wasted again.
