Long description
I am one of the founder and the general manager of Women for Change (WOFCH) (formerly named Women with disabilities for change ). It was founded in 2011 by 19 interested individuals composed of 16 women and 3 men who were women with disability, professional women and volunteer individuals. It is legally re-registered as a a charity organization by certificate no 2207. Its mission was building the capacity of women with disability and children with disabilities. The project was supported by donors however from 2016 onwards but donors support decreased due to the country’s political . I started to mobilize volunteerism and at the moment I am supporting 9 beneficiaries through job creation and direct support systems. The project description As all of us do not have income sources I started to enhance ways and means of income generation activities . I searched for Mushroom cultivation methods and learned that Oyster mushroom can be cultivated from Coffee ground. Ethiopia has plenty of coffee and coffee consumers in the big coffee houses .I contacted one of the coffee shop that has more than 11 branches in the city of Addis Ababa (TOMOCA COFFEE) . Each coffee shop has a coffee ground waste up to 80 kGs and we were allowed to collect from each shop the coffee ground and cultivate oyster mushroom. The project is at a prototype because to cultivate larger amount we need space ( bigger rooms, and other equipments) .
