ReDyeRect focuses on B2B transactions, extracting pigments from floral waste and transforming them into natural and sustainable dyes for textiles.
Long description
Globally, the major pollutants of water bodies in major cities are toxic wastewater from textile industries. Chemical water pollution harms ecosystems and causes human beings to be susceptible to a diverse array of diseases such as diarrhea, typhoid and polio. ReDyeRect proposes a more sustainable way to dye clothes with huge scalability potential. ReDyeRect will sell natural dyes to clothing brands. These dyes are made from organic floral waste and produced with minimal chemical waste generated, thus making them far more environmentally friendly.
The city of Amsterdam claims to be the sustainable fashion and jeans capital of the world. However, they outsource their production abroad because it is cheaper than producing locally, resulting in low product quality and high greenhouse gas emissions due to transport.
ReDyeRect are offering our services to save ecosystems by producing dyes locally, minimising chemical waste production and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We believe that on large scale productions natural dyeing can be financially viable by using (mostly reusable) enzyme-assisted extraction of pigments. This is not only a more sustainable way of manufacturing clothes, but it also repurposes some of the organic waste that is overflowing Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a great place to situate our start-up because there are diverse flower parks (Keukenhof, Efteling, etc.) in the Netherlands with huge amounts of floral waste that are currently unutilized. Amsterdam wants to obtain a full circular economy by 2050 and ReDyeRect can help achieve that goal.
