Educate to use less plastic.
Long description
Statistically, every citizen of the European Union uses as many as 200 plastic bags a year, which is as much as 4 kg of plastic. The average usage time of a foil bag is between 5 and 20 minutes, while its decomposition time is 400 to 500 years. Plastic is very foreign to nature, even though there is so much of it. We created material that was supposed to revolutionize the world and it did; unfortunately, due to the recklessness of man, it also littered our environment. Relics of Plastic Era were created to educate, raise awareness and protest. They are a manifesto of our legacy: made of plastic that will last the longest after us. The weights which the figures are build, were made of “rocks of the 21st century” – I call it plastic because it interferes with nature more and more. Relics are a set of objects: figures made of weights and a foil calendar. The collection of figures compiled on the basis of statistics shows the differences in how we treat plastic bags from supermarkets in different parts of Europe and in which countries care is taken to use as little as possible, and where this problem is still underestimated.
By compiling data on various European countries, I want to show that we should learn from each other and support in solving a common problem.
