A change in the function of the trash can. A change in the behavior of throwing away. A change in the image of the processing plant.

Long description

The number of convenience stores in Tokyo is said to be about 8,000 units. Mass consumption systems have become vital to our lives, just as the convenience that consumers demand in our everyday life. I think the biggest flaw in this system is that it does not incorporate resource cyclicity into the system as well.

I wanted a convenience store-scale place to turn the items of use into resources while shopping. This is what REGREEN STORE stands for. I thought about improving the quality of sorting waste with membership-based function and point service. Moreover a mechanism with which points can be used to purchase more environmentally friendly products is implemented.

The important point is to change people’s sense of “waste”. A change in the function of the trash can. A change in the behavior of throwing away. A change in the image of the processing plant. By scheming the former, it is possible to gradually change the demands of environmentally conscious people and of consumers who collect points, and enrich society.

What is needed now is to first change the habit of storing large amounts of garbage in each household and throwing it away at once. Put resources in a shopping bag and reduce the environmental load every day as if you were incidental. This is important. If resources can be cycled within Japan in this way, environmental pollution to other countries can be reduced. And you should be able to live a happier life in Japan as well.
