Transforming textile waste into filament for 3D printer.

Long description

According to the Brazilian Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry (Abit), Brazil is a world leader in the production of beachwear. Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo concentrate 49% of the national production. In 2017, almost 144 million pieces were produced. In the process of cutting these models, there is a waste of about 30% of raw material pre-consumption in the form of scraps of textile.

Retex is a 3D printer filament produced from the textile waste of the production of beachwear items. The filament can be used in the additive manufacturing of trims and accessories (clasps, buckles, regulators, buttons, sunglasses) to feed the own production or serve as a nutrient to supply other productive chains building a continuous closed loop.

Retex is an alternative to mitigate the impact caused by Brazilian beachwear the industry responsible that generates a big volume of synthetic textile waste that takes many years to degrade in the environment.
