The “seedcup” concept recycles waste and turns it into a product. So far so good. Recycling is nothing new here, but the innovative part is that we recycle the waste, or coffee grounds, exactly where it is generated as garbage, to produce a new product, which in turn is used exactly there. The idea is to have decentralized production, realized through a machine, which uses coffee ground to produce the “seedcup” – our single-use coffee to go cup. This machine can be used in Cafés, Bakeries, moving coffee shops, gas stations and many more.., so everywhere where coffee is offered and sold.

This way we do not only save emissions from transportation and the construction of new infrastructure for our product, but we also save the enormous resources of disposable coffee cups, made of paper and plastic base, which after only 15 minutes of use end up in the trash and then in the incinerator. But our cycle does not end there: The cup that decomposes in contact with moist soil within 48 hours releases a seed of a local plant and gives everyone the opportunity to consciously participate in the design and greening of public spaces, thus promoting biodiversity within cities. With our project we challenge the status quo and create an awareness within society to realize and use waste as a resource.
