Circular materials need innovative product solutions: SHINGLE simultaneously meets the ecological and architectural requirements of New Work spaces.

Long description

The modern office tends to become more and more flexible and mobile. In the future, the typical desk jobs will be carried out in new space concepts, like open and non-territorial office spaces. In order to meet the demands of increasingly agile work methods, the typical stationary workplaces will be supplemented or substituted by temporary project rooms or areas. These new structures bring up new challenges concerning interior design and put new demands on the furniture used in these working spaces. In this context, Laura Jungmann and Jonathan Radetz developed the SHINGLE stool.

These stools are made of Solid Textile Boards by the company REALLY. The high-density recycling material, made from end-of-life textiles and cut offs from Kvadrat textile production is used as a sustainable panel material in furniture and architecture. It is not the mere existence of such a circular material that has a positive impact on our environment, but the innovative and widespread use of it by designers and architects.

By a rounded standing edge, the SHINGLE stool wobbles and prevents thereby at the unmoved sitting. Towered on top of each other, the stools also form a partition wall which acts as a room divider and can therefore be used as visual and sound insulation. The rounded edge now becomes a graphic and structural element reminiscent of a shingle roof. Turned upside down, the stool can easily be carried on the bridge and used for storage.
