sommos is an app with which people can buy all their groceries package-free, with fair-trade and from local producers. The prices of all the products on the app are separated by the price of the real product (the content) and the price of the container.
On their first purchase you have to pay for the full price (content and container). But after your second purchase you will ONLY have to pay for the content. If you decide you don’t want to buy that product anymore you can just return the empty container and you will get a bonus discount equal to the price of the container on your next order.
Our app keeps track of what containers each user has available for reuse, what products they can buy with them and how much they would get as a bonus discount if they return them. To keep control of all this back-and-forth of containers we developed a backend software that helps us manage containers inventory and visualize their current status and location. We deliver each order in reusable plastic baskets (no more plastic bags or cardboard boxes). On every order the app reminds users of how many baskets and containers they have to return.
