Stream is a research-based hybrid product from a new bio-material developed by Mater.

A new material that is produced from waste and can be composted back to nature

HYBRID OBJECT the product basically can be transformed into 3 different objects – a vase of earth,  a lampshade, and a nature-inspired gift wrap by simply get the material, download the pattern, and fold!

MATERIAL The material’s character is almost similar to paper. However, it is much stronger and has a really good transparency quality and water resistance that makes this material unique. By adding a few processes, this material can behave like fabric which something that will be developed further.

The folding technique is applied as it creates a self-supporting structure.

WASTE-LED DESIGN the aim of this research is to create a new cycle from the end of life of materials, specifically home industry waste in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Stream tries to take the advantage of the abundance of soya waste that ended up in the river by transforming it into a new biomaterial made of soya liquid waste and bacteria. This will help to reduce the negative impact on the environment and adding a positive social and economic effect to the local home industries.
