Long description

Everest Mountain has always been a desirable destination for many tourists. The base camp, situated at 5150 m, hosts each climber for about a month. Since this Base camp is a home for so many people for long periods, there is already nearly 16000 kg of garbage left by the climbers, including tents, sleeping bags, plastic trash, and human waste. Such an enormous amount of garbage is the leftovers from numerous expeditions that need to have food, water, and oxygen tanks in reserve during the whole climb. Eventually, everything turns out to be left on the route. To clean the Everest base camp is now almost impossible. The Saprophyte Hotel is the solution. The Hotel builds itself using recycled litter as construction material. Its pre-fabricated core modules are delivered to the base camp. Every module is equipped with one of three recycling and water treatment system. Three modules form a primary set for required chemical and physical processes of recycling. One is for human solid waste and urine, the second is for all types go plastic and the third one is responsible for water treatment. In 6 weeks after the launch living units appear around core modules. In a while, all rubbish is converted to the merged cells of the Saprophyte Hotel. It is now a new living and resource structure for the base camp which prevents further pollution.
