THERAINCOAT is founded by Petra Földi, a young award winner designer based in Budapest. Specialized in high-quality waterproof coats of unique design, the brand builds gaps between fashion and top-level functionality. Its purpose is to make the urban doers confident and proud while easing their everyday life.

Waterproof fabrics and technology usually go hand in hand with the usage of plastic-based fabrics and harmful production. To make a difference, we have chosen future-friendliness instead and are looking, step by step, for solutions to support our green thinking. Some of the factors are already accomplished:

• Quality standards maximizing the lifetime of the items, multi-functionality of the coats,
• Fabrics supplied by SympaTex, known for their recyclable hi-tech membrane and for complying with various global green standards,
• Making every single item on the spot, upon ordering, without surplus.

However, there are still a lot of possibilities to improve. Participating in this Challenge would mean an important support to achieve the following objectives:

• To prototype a model made by minimum or zero waste sewing pattern. As waterproof production technology is already very demanding (due to the waterproof taping and the special construction of the coat), this target is even more challenging.

To re-design the supplemental fabrics and materials used for this new model (e.g. lining, zipper, etc.) in order to ensure that the finished product will be also able to take part in the recycling flow, when the time comes.
