Why is there a plastic straw in a sea turtle’s nostril?
Why is a sea bird trapped in plastic beer-can link?
Why are there so many plastic bags in the ocean?
Did I put it there? Did you throw it in the sea?
It always seems to be our fault that there is garbage in the sea and that the air is polluted and that the ice caps are melting.
We need to design a rating system which can be used to see how products are disposed of when they reach the end of their useful life.
It will show how well the local council is recycling waste, compared to nearby councils.
It will show how sustainably smartphone manufacturers are handling their waste.
It will indicate which garbage disposal company in your local area is not fly-tipping.
We can take control of how organisations and companies protect the future of this planet.
Our design will award points and the points will the value to cities and organisations.
We’ve been told to use paper straws, pay for plastic bags and sort our garbage. But, things seem to be getting worse. It’s our turn to take responsibility for our planet. Industry must show us what it has achieved and demonstrate that it is leading us in the correct recycling path.
What would the world look like if cities and corporations competed to see how green they can be?
It is time to take action.
