RECYCLING OF PLASTIC AND WOOD WASTE TO NEW WOODEN PRODUCTS.

Solid waste management is both an urban and rural problem because every person is considered a producer of wastes.

According to reports available the solid waste in Tanzania, have composition percentage wise in such as way that organic waste (food remains/plant trimmings)-55%, wood/lumber/rice husks-14%, plastic-15%, metals and other inorganic-10% and other such as livestock waste-5%. Our project will involve recycling of plastic waste, wood, and rice husks to make plastic profiles that are used to school desks, beehives and wooden plastic classroom.

 

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: It is a common situation to find many students at lower level in Tanzania sit on stones in classes due to lack of desks. This project aim to reduce that deficit by producing desks to be used by these students.

MARKET ANALYSIS: According to World Bank Report for Tanzania, in 2018 the net rate of enrollment to primary school was 86%. This indicate how bigger the market is for schools desks and classrooms.

RESOURCES NEEDED: We need working capital for meeting expenses and investment on equipment. The total funding needed is $200,000.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIRED: We need to procure the wood-plastic extrusion machine to make profiles and hand tools to make desks.

PROJECT LOCATION: The project will be located in Iringa town due to plenty supply of plastic from all regions and wood, rice husks to make desks.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT: The project value proposition rely on providing the answer to problem resulted by waste such as landfill/marine pollution and air pollution.

PROJECT TIMELINE: The project time is 9 months.
