WasteCoin is a mobile application that helps to convert everyone’s household recycling efforts into a digital/virtual currency that can be redeemed on the app marketplace.

At WasteCoin, we strongly believe that if the social culture around waste disposal is changed for good, recycling will drastically improve. Hence, we came up with our solution where everyone is encouraged (incentivized) to dispose of waste post-usage by

• scan plastic barcode/QR-code,
• get credited with coins and direction to the nearest waste-hub,
• deliver the plastic,
• redeem earnings as cash or other incentives

Thus, the WasteCoin project is striving to

• change individual/consumer/household behavior by initiating the recycling process from the source (post-use point) and not the post-disposed point.
• building a community consciousness to waste,
• induce a new culture of waste handling,
• rewarding proper waste disposal that will give a welcome fillip to recycling activities and
• ultimately a reduction in environmental degradation
