Giving second life to furniture after it looses its utilitarian value.
Long description
Zilch is a cork seat furniture. It is an attempt to re-evaluate the life-cycle processes of furniture; making it more sustainable and long-lasting, and giving it a second life, after its primary utilitarian value.
Lines of Inquiry:
What happens to products after it loses its utilitarian value? Where do they go? How shall we design products that contribute less waste, can be regenerative, and add value to our planet’s ecosystem? How shall we make use of alternative materials that we have in nature? Is there a way we can recycle and reuse products by ourselves? How shall we design furniture to shift from a linear economy to a circular economy system?
Materials used: Cork, powder-coated aluminum pipe.
